GUILDERLAND – James Dean Fink, 59, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  James was born in Albany on June 2, 1958, and he lived in Guilderland all his life.  He owned and operated Jim Fink General Construction, and also was an avid stock car racing fan.  He enjoyed riding his Harleys and his daily visits with the Stewart’s Coffee Club.

James was the devoted son of Nancy E. Hotaling Fink and the late Carl C. Fink.  He is survived by his brother Carl R. Fink (Patty); his brother in law Dwight Peterson; his nieces and nephews Jennifer, Michelle, Stephanie, Lisa, Allison, Jamie, Haley and Tyler; his Godchildren Jamie Tannatta and Lisa Fink; his precious dog Blue; and by several great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful and supportive friends, especially Barbara, Denny and Georgine.  James was also predeceased by his sister Kathleen M. Peterson, and his brother Duane H. Fink.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Dennis J. Rassias, and Dr. John Morgan, as well as the dedicated nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, and the amazing supportive staff of Community Hospice at St. Peter’s Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to James.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church, Sumter Ave., Guilderland, on Wednesday, December 27th at 11:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the Knights Chapel in Christ the King Church prior to the mass Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.

You treated me like a son when I was growing up. Giving me the nick name of Leroy. You were always there for advice, helping me with fixing my cars, and having fun working at Delmar beverage center. The saying always goes the good ones die young and you are proof! R.I.P my friend!!!

This could not have been more perfectly written. I just wish it wasn’t true. You were an amazing man and I was so lucky to have you as my god father. I will never forget the good times your heart of gold your or your beautiful smile. I will never forget the special night I got to spend with you in the hospital and the nice conversation we shared. You fought a long and hard courageous battle and I give you all the credit in the world for being the strong man that you always were. You will always have a warm place in my heart that I will hold onto forever. I will see again soon but until then please watch over me my fiancé Steve and our family.
I love you my beautiful angel always and forever.
    Love,
    Lisa Fink

So very sad to learn of the passing of Jimmy. Equally sad to witness the passing of yet another member of the Fink family. The friendship between the Finks and McClintocks go back as far as I can remember to very early in my childhood. Words can’t express the sadness I feel for the remaining family members as well as my father who is a long standing member of Jimmy’s beloved Stewarts Coffee Club as I know he will truly miss Jimmy, their conversations and the long standing friendship. Jimmy was a great man who did a lot for my family that went way beyond friendship and he will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to all who are affected by his loss.

Jim was a great guy . He had a lot of friends and when he stood in his driveway it was amazing how many people beeped and waved to him. Jim had integrity, was honest went out of his way to help others. Jim handled adversity with grit and was not one to complain no matter what life threw his way.

    Carl,
It’s been years since we rolled cars down the hill in your back yard together.
I have to say that I was as thrilled as I was scared watching your brother crawl out of that window back then on that bright summer day.
I’ll always remember the big grin he had on his face when he stood up, looked me in the eye and asked me if I wanted to strap in and give it a try!
    God bless and take care.
You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.
