
ALBANY – Gerald “Jake” Thibault, 74, of Albany, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Jake was born and raised in Clayton, NY, the youngest of seven, and son of the late Benjamin Thibault and Iva Granger Thibault. He lived in Albany most of his life. He was a graduate of Clayton High School and SUNY Delhi, and served in the U.S. Army where he trained at Fort Belvoir, and served in Iraq and Libya. In 1970 he became partners in Elliot & Thibault Land Surveyors, and later operated G.R. Thibault Land Surveying. Jake was a member of the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520, and enjoyed spending time at camp with the guys in Port Henry cooking his gourmet meals, as well as going to garage sales, spending time with his grandkids who he was so proud of and were a big part of his life, fishing with Dave, and visiting every covered bridge in the Northeast.
Jake was predeceased by his wife Mary C. Benoit Thibault in 2012. He is survived by his daughters Judy Bazan (Bob), and Debbie Picerno (Luigi); his sister Marion Colin; his brother William Thibault (Kay); his grandchildren Luigi Picerno, Jr., and Isabella Picerno; his brother in law Arthur Benoit (Gail Matteo); his sister in law Dianne Zaloga; his brother in law John Zaloga (Maureen); his dear friends Dan and Joyce Espey; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings Benjamin Thibault, Shirley Bourcy, Lawrence Thibault, and Caroline Natali.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday evening at 6:30 pm. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 3:30-6:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.
