Frieda Uellenberg

ALBANY – Frieda Uellenberg, 89, of Albany passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, after a short and patiently endured illness.  Born in 1921 in Steinwiesen, Germany, Frieda immigrated to the United States in 1951. She worked for Tobin Packing Co. until its closing in 1981.  She also was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church and the former Holy Cross Church in Albany, and a member of the Holy Cross Seniors.

Frieda was the loving wife of 48 years of the late Erich Uellenberg who predeceased her in 2003. She was the dear mother of Manfred Simon and his wife Marianne, the beloved Oma of Jennifer (Christopher) Radnich and the proud Ur-Oma of Morgan Radnich. She is also survived by her sisters Lanie Corrine of Albany and Marga Wachter of Kronach, Germany. Also surviving are a brother in law, sister in law and several nieces and nephews in Germany.

Frieda’s family would like to thank the staff of hospice for the wonderful care they provided to her during her illness.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning at 9:45, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary’s Church), Homestead St., Albany at 10:30.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment of her cremains will be in private at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, if desired, to The Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .
