
GUILDERLAND – Frederick G. Rings, 88, of Guilderland, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albany. Mr. Rings was born in Albany, and lived in the area all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was attached to the 2nd Marine Division. He was employed by the American Meter Co. and Perry Lumber Co. in Albany, and then for many years by the Walter Motor Truck Co. in Voorheesville. He was a member of the American Legion Ambrose J. Scully Post #1610. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Rings is survived by his beloved wife H. Gladys Zimmerman Rings; his sons Stephen Rings of Guilderland, Peter Rings (Eileen) of Scotia, and Jeffrey Rings (Kim) of Delmar; his sister Marion Conklin of Albany; and his grandchildren Zachary White, Michael Rings and Alexander Rings.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
