COLONIE – Frederic Slover, age 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 3, 2020. Fred was born in Albany to Robert (late) and Patricia Slover. He worked for 35 years at Sysco Foods. Fred met his loving wife, Josie, in 1970. He asked if she wanted to go for a bike ride and the rest is history. They were married on November 25, 1972. Fred enjoyed spending time outdoors while hunting, cruising, and vacationing in New Smyrna Beach with his wife and family. Grandpa was always in the crowd at his grandchildren’s many sporting events, concerts, and awards ceremonies. Fred loved attending family celebrations. He always had a smile, kind word, and a good story and laugh to share. He made friends wherever he went. His presence will be missed by all.
Fred is the husband of Josephine Slover; father of Regina (Keith) Zobel and David (Destiny) Slover; grandfather of David “Punk”, Keithie “Bat”, Ryan “Smiley”, Gianna “Bah”, Milan “Sleep”, and Stella “Skeleton”. He will be missed by in-laws Frank, Rose, and Tony; his brother, Michael; and many family members and friends.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for Fred at NYOH, St. Peter’s Hospital, and Albany Medical Center.

We had the pleasure of meeting Fred and Josephine on a Norwegian Halloween cruise. We had many days at sea and Fred was our guy who went and reserved the best lounge chairs for our little group.
Fred talked about his garden and he and Josephine got me hooked on growing Zucchini and eating the flowers.
Rest peacefully Fred.
Out of all the folks we met traveling you were the nicest.

Deer Slover family, my condolences for the loss of our beloved uncle Freddy. I’m sorry that I will not be able to attend services and deeply saddened by it. You will always live in my heart. He is a man who shaped my world. The uncle who defined what I’d be like as a parent. Uncle Freddy was a shining star on this Earth. His legacy is going to live on forever. What he taught me is it going to be passed down from generation to generation. I will never forget all of our car rides the places that he took us. Go faster Uncle Freddy in his Monte Carlo and he would step on the gas for us so we could go faster. Eat some food stick is going to shine through my soul every waking moment of my life. Why are you eyeballing that fried calamari stick? Try some you don’t know what you’re missing. I’m going to make some fried calamari sit down and have dinner with my friends and remember my uncle Fred. Always my Hulk Hogan! One of the most amazing things was being on the beach in New Smyrna Beach when you were there and a swimming out as far as we good until our feet couldn’t touch anymore but yours could. I loved when you got to pick us up and throw us as far as you could into that ocean and we’d come back for more. God truly call back one of his perfect angels. Thank you for defining what strong really meant to me. My memories of you are all so beautifully engraved in my soul my childhood was perfect because of you. Thank you for giving this family a legacy to live by. My deepest condolences and love go out to everybody in my family. I’m sorry for our loss. This obituary was beautifully written and couldn’t have described him better.
