In Memorial

ALBANY – Florence “Mitzi” D. Springer, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center after a brief illness.  Florence was born October 20, 1925 and spent her childhood in Glens Falls. In her pre-teen years she moved to Albany and lived with her beloved Aunt Florence and Uncle Emerson Dalrymple, who predeceased her.  In her adult years Florence married Teo Macero and lived and worked in New York City.  She later moved to New Jersey and worked in New York City at various Office Manager and Executive Assistant jobs including Columbia University, Division of Education Studies, Licensed Beverage Industries, St. Clare’s Hospital, Erlich Bober Financial Corporation and the Archdiocese of New York.  She retired in 1985 to care for her Mother, Ida, in Albany.

Florence was predeceased by her parents Ida May Brady and Clifford Francis Davignon; her brother Richard Davignon; and her sister-in-law Peggy Davignon.  She is survived by her nephew Peter Davignon; by Peggy’s children Tammy Grant and Thomas Wade; and by cousins Robert and Shirley Hausler.

Mitzi was one of those rare “Lady’s” of an era and time gone by.  She will be missed by her friends and everyone who knew her.  She loved politics, discussing current events, Chivas, the beach and ocean, Lake George and her camp, good food, reading mysteries, music, TV shows MASH and Love Boat, spending time with friends both at her camp in Lake George and her residence in Albany.  She always had time for her friends and made them feel loved and welcomed. She loved all of creation and tried not to disturb it, she especially loved her Willie, Jazz and Sam.

Special thanks to the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for their care over the past four months both in Rehabilitation and the Nursing Home and to her friends Theresa, Marilyn, Ray, Nina, Don, Debbie, Janet, Pat, and Flo for their support and encouragement and to Kathy and Mark for the care of her cat, Sam.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Guilderland.  Relatives and friends are invited.  There will be no calling hours.  Interment will follow the mass in Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George.  Arrangements are by the Hans Funeral Home, Albany.  To leave remembrances of Florence, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
