Elmer S. Fishlinger

ALBANY – Elmer S. Fishlinger, 85, of Albany, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.  Mr. Fishlinger was born in Brooklyn, and raised in Elmont.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947, and lived on Long Island until moving to rural Albany County in 1965 to fulfill his passion for dairy farming, and also worked as a master painter and paperhanger for the Painter’s Union IUPAT Local 201 of Albany.  All those who knew him will be left with a lifetime of laughter and love.

Mr. Fishlinger is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Marino Fishlinger; his children Dorothy Van De Wal (Arthur) of Castleton, James Fishlinger of Pomona, Elmer Fishlinger, Jr. (Ruth) of Riverside, CA, Anne Soldner of Albany, and Walter Fishlinger of Albany.  He was predeceased by his granddaughter Diane Van De Wal; and by his siblings Roland, William, Walter, Woodrow and Dorothy.  He is survived by his grandchildren Steven, Timothy, Matthew, Mandi, Lena, Kristen, Andrew, and Emily.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 10:00, and from there to The Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Ave., Albany at 11:00.   Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 pm.  Interment will be in Horizon View Cemetery in Castleton.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
