Elizabeth C. “Betty” Bishop

ALBANY – Elizabeth C. “Betty” Bishop, 87, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Peter’s Hospital with her family by her side.  Betty was born in Cohoes on August 28, 1923 and grew up the beautiful and vibrant daughter of Edmund Connery and Josephine Betonia Connery.  Betty graduated from Keveny Academy in 1939. 

She met her husband Frank J. Bishop while the two worked for the New York State Department of Public Works.  They married in 1947 and moved to Albany and raised four children, who, along with her husband, were the loves of her life for the next six decades.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Frank J. Bishop; her children Frank J. Bishop, Jr. (Robin C.) and Peter E. Bishop (Judith Faith) both of Albany; Elizabeth Ann “Liz” of Saratoga Springs, and Paul G. Bishop (Diane) of Albany; her grandchildren Colleen Davignon (Russ), Audrey Bishop and Gregory Bishop; her great granddaughter Maya Rose Vasquez, her great friend and sister-in-law Eileen Bishop Loomis and by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her infant son Michael Francis Bishop and her only sister, June Dessingue.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Avenue, Albany, Monday morning at 10 o’clock, and from there to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in the old Vincentian Institute, from which all four Bishop children graduated, on Ontario and Yates Streets, Albany at 11 o’clock.
