
ALBANY – Elizabeth A. Pickett, 88, of Albany, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Pickett was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Holloran Fischer. She lived in Albany all her life, and was a graduate of St. Ann’s Academy in Albany. She was employed for many years by the New York Telephone Co., and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She also was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Albany and the former St. James Church.
Mrs. Pickett is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Joseph E. Pickett; her sons Keith J. Pickett (Merla Mason) of Troy, and Joseph C. Pickett of Albany; her sisters Sister Gilmary Fischer, CSJ, of Latham, and Madeline Szell of Rocky River, OH; her granddaughters Maura E. Pickett and Melissa and Leslie Richburg; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Hufland.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning at 8:30, and from there to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Delaware Ave. at St. James Place, Albany at 9:30. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110-4799.
