ALBANY – Elaine B. O’Brien Pettit, 49, of Albany, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Elaine was born in Albany, and lived here all her life. She was a 1984 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. She was employed for a time by the Travel Land travel agency, and more recently by Wellpoint in Albany. Family was important to Elaine. She loved vacationing with them in Cape Cod at her favorite spot, Smith Heights. She enjoyed the warm weather, beach and watching sunsets. Elaine looked forward to Saturdays at Saratoga racetrack each August with her husband Derek and friends. Above all, Elaine loved spending time with her beautiful daughter Julia. A girls day out getting their nails done and having lunch together brought her so much joy. Elaine will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Elaine is survived by her husband Derek S. Pettit; her daughter Julia Grace Pettit; her parents Edward G. and Mary C. Davis O’Brien of North Albany; her brother Timothy O’Brien (Lisa) of Colonie; her sisters Karen O’Brien Driscoll (Jay) of Albany, and Christine O’Brien Inger of Delmar; and by her nieces and nephews Conor, Margaret and Jack Driscoll, and Kathleen Inger.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 10:00am, and from there to the Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Ave., Albany at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
