
ROTTERDAM – Edward F. Levandoski, 77, of Rotterdam, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. Mr. Levandoski was born and raised in Amsterdam. He served for twenty years in the U.S. Air Force, logging sixteen thousand hours in C-47 cargo planes and AC-47 gunships as a Flight Engineer. He served in Vietnam flying combat missions as part of the Air Commandos in support of the Green Berets. He later was employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS, and then by the Stennis Space Center.
Mr. Levandoski is survived by his wife Georgette Levandoski; his son Alan Levandoski (Linda) of Rotterdam; his brother Joseph Lewandowski (Edie) of Amsterdam; his grandchildren Lindsey Levandoski, Joseph Wood, and James and Matthew Farrell. He was predeceased by his daughter Rose-Marie Levandoski in 1973.
Mr. Levandoski will be remembered at a mass at 11am today in the 11th floor chapel at the VA Hospital in Albany. Relatives and friends are invited. There will be no calling hours. Interment with full military honors will be held in Mississippi at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospice at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany would be appreciated.
