GUILDERLAND – Earl H. Karl, of Guilderland, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.  Earl was born and raised in Averill Park on his family’s dairy farm.  He also lived in East Greenbush before moving to Guilderland over 30 years ago.  Earl served in the U.S. Army for two years and had a long career with John Hancock Life Insurance as a Sales Manager.

Earl is survived by his children Michelle Karl, Gregory Karl (William Eisner) and Cheryl Hightower (Richard Hightower) ; his grandchildren Alyssa and Meghan Wrinkle; and his dear friend, Sharon Mozzi.

Earl enjoyed great wanderlust- he visited all fifty states and twenty-two countries. Despite his globetrotting, his favorite trips were visiting his family.  Two of his proudest moments were watching his granddaughters, Alyssa, and Meghan graduate college.  Friends and family often enjoyed holiday parties and summer barbeques hosted by Earl.  An avid gardener, Earl enjoyed the springtime ritual of planting flower and vegetable gardens, admired by all.  He was kind to all animals, especially his cats, Kitty Girl and Clipper.  Always the optimist,  Earl touched the lives of many both personally and professionally and will be sorely missed.

A private service will be planned for the spring.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  Donations in Earl’s memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204 (mohawkhumane.org) .  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany.
