ALBANY – Dorothy A. Kircher, 92, of Albany, passed away peacefully with family members at her side on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Teresian House in Albany. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Walter and Norine McCartan, and was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Donald. Dorothy and Don enjoyed their life together in Albany, Cooperstown and winters in St. Augustine. Faith and family were most important to Dorothy and she lived each day with a real joy for life. She enjoyed working at the Clapps Bookstore in Albany, and volunteering at the historic Farmer’s Museum in Cooperstown as a tour guide. She also was an avid bridge player with the same women’s group for over 60 years.
Dorothy is survived by her six children: Noreen Morrison (Ronald), David (Lorna Moffre), Peter (Mary), Mary Butler (David), Kathy Weeks (Thomas) and Thomas (Cynthia). She also leaves behind her cherished extended family of 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy’s family would like to express gratitude to the caring staff of the 6th floor of the Teresian House, Pastoral Care staff and the Carmelite Sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Ave., Albany on Tuesday, August 22, at 10:00am. My sister, Vivian, joins me in extending our sympathy & kind thoughts to all the Kircher family. We knew Don & Dorothy as two of our favorite neighbors at Avila for the entire time they were here & then would see Dorothy at Teresian House often at Mass in their chapel. They are missed. We will schedule a mass intention for them with the Missionaries of Africa who do much good work on that continent.
God bless.

Noreen, David, Peter, Kathy, Mary and Tom,
I was so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I always remember that her life was centered around her family and her faith and always being home with her children.
When my mother was ill before she died, your Mom came to St. Peter’s and gave her communion and thanked her for being a good friend. I thought that was really special, and I still remember your mother’s kindness after all these years.
Wishing you all lots of prayers, healing and peace.
