
MILFORD, DE – Dominic J. Ravida, 90, of Ocean View, DE, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE. Mr. Ravida was born in Albany, the son of Antonio and Josephine Alberti Ravida. He lived in Albany and Loudonville most of his life until moving to Rockville, MD and recently Ocean View, Delaware. Mr. Ravida was a graduate of Albany High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Cooner. He was employed by Simmons Machine Tool, Strecks Machine Shop, and for many years, Atlas Copco. He was a parishioner of the former St. Francis DeSales Church in Loudonville, and was a member of the VFW.
Mr. Ravida was predeceased by his beloved wife Regina Robak Ravida. He is survived by his loving son and daughter in law Robert and Peggie Ravida of Ocean View, DE; his brother Thomas Ravida of Cohoes; his grandchildren Robert Jr., James and Nicole; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Kalkbrenner and Mary Benoit; his brothers Jerome, Joseph, Anthony “Lefty”, Sebastian “Bosti,” Michael, Charles, and Angelo Ravida.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 8:00 AM, and from there to Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Francis DeSales Church), 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 PM. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
