
ALBANY – Colleen A. “Connie” Severino, 92, of Albany, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Connie was born in Castleton, but was raised in Albany and lived here all her life. She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Emma Zackey Whalen. She was employed for 35 years as a bookkeeper for the Grand Union Supermarket in Albany, and then for 19 years by the New York State Dept. of Taxation & Finance. Connie devoted herself to her family, and to being a fan of the New York Yankees. She also enjoyed playing slot machines at various casinos, and loved all her pets, especially her dogs Jake and Max.
Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband James A. Severino, Sr. in 1993. She is survived by her son James A. Severino, Jr.; her grandson James A. Severino (Lori); her great grandchildren Taylor, Teagan, and Jake; her devoted niece Debra Hackstadt; and by many more nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Beach, Frieda Lombardi, and Esther Wells.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday prior to the service from 10a.m. to Noon. Entombment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
