
ALBANY – Catherine T. Smith Armento, 82, of Albany, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Catherine was born in Troy, and lived most of her life in Albany. She was employed by a number of firms including the Central Warehouse, Huyck Felt Co., the City of Albany, and by the State of New York at both the Dept. of Correctional Services and the Education Dept. Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, and traveled widely with a very dear friend. She also enjoyed membership in the Colonie Seniors’ Bright Horizons program for a time.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Joanne Coffey (Tom) of Slingerlands; her son- in- law John Dawson of Rotterdam; her granddaughter Jillian Anne Coffey of Slingerlands; and her grandson Nicholas James Dawson of Rotterdam. She was predeceased by her daughter Beth Armento Dawson just last month, and by her son Benjamin Armento in 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11:30am in the Parish of Mater Christi, Hopewell St. & Hurst Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
