
GUILDERLAND – Carl J. Hoffa, 85, of Guilderland, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. Carl was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Peter and Julia Hoffa, and he lived all his life in Niskayuna and Guilderland. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was employed for many years by the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing, and spending time at their cottage on Cape Cod. He also enjoyed gardening, and in retirement he became fond of cooking.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joyce A. Petherbridge Hoffa. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Kleber, and by his brothers Philip and James Hoffa.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Wednesday morning at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10:00am. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Carl was my supervisor in the Forestry Department for a few years. Always was smiling except when he found us goofing off. And although he seemed angry he always seemed to let by gone’s be by gone’s.
