ALBANY – Anthony Caccamo, 92, of Albany, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his family.  Mr. Caccamo was born in Siderno Marina, Reggio Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Giovanni and Teresa Macri Caccamo.  He came to the United States in 1948, settling first in Brooklyn, then moving to Albany in 1949.  He was employed by the railroad, and then by Armory Garage.  In 1961, he opened his own business, Tony’s Auto Repair, located on Western Avenue in Guilderland, enjoying a successful career until retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Albany (the former St. James Church).  He also was a charter member of the Italian American Community Center in Albany.  Mr. Caccamo loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Caccamo is survived by his beloved wife of 63 yrs, Mary Massamo Caccamo; his children  John J. Caccamo (Patricia) of Albany, Arthur P. Caccamo of Albany, and Teresa Jusino (Francis C. Henry) of Slingerlands; his sister Dina D’Agostino of Italy; his grandchildren Anthony Caccamo (Katie), Tiffany Mott (Brian), Adam Jusino (Kristina Harris), and Lia Jusino Sasselli (Stefano); his great grandchildren Lily Caccamo, Anna Caccamo, and Carly Mott;  and by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sisters Elvira Romeo, and Elizabeth Audino, and his brothers Vincent and Joseph Caccamo.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 9:00, and from there to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Delaware Ave. & St. James Place, Albany, at 10:00.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY 12209.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.

    Non disperate ma Pregate, Zio è vivo Spiritualmente perché è morto solo fisicamente. Zio è tornato alla Casa Del Padre Celeste da dove è venuto al mondo e lì ci aspetta alla fine della nostra missione sulla terra.
