I was a good friend of marks as a child. He lived in Albany but I lived right next door to his grandmother. in Troy he came to his grandmothers quite often. Back then everyone called him Rocky so thats the name I really knew him by. I was a total tomboy back then and had three sisters who constantly played barbies so when Rocky came over I had a chance to play baseball football or go bike riding I remember on the Fourth of July Rocky would always bring along the fireworks for us to do. He was a lot of fun I havent seen him since tthen but hearing of his passing bought back all those good memories for me.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I knew Mark (Rocky) when we were kids. His Grandmother and Great Grandmother lived near us and we always got together when he visited. We have a lot of happy childhood memories of summer days spent with him and his cousin Debby.

I was sad to read of Mark’s death and wish to send my condolences to all of his family. As my younger brother Kevin said, Mark was a good friend when we lived in N. Albany back in the 60’s and 70’s. We moved in the mid 70’s and lost touch w/ Mark at that time. I recall a lot of good times hanging out w/ Mark and our group of about 6 close friends. We were all into sports and everyday we played baseball, basketball, football or golf . We were kind of wild kids and Mark was the biggest and oldest and our leader. He was a good athlete and we used to try to get on his team when teams were being chosen. He was a lefty and I recall him hitting many homeruns when we played at the little league park. We all caddied at Wolferts Roost golf course where we learned to play golf and earned a decent amount of money for young kids. I remember Mark and I taking on some of the “rich kids”, who lived up by the Roost, in golf and hoops, which we usually bet on and came away winners. When Mark got his license he changed, he didn’t hang out as much w/ us and he became a party animal. We moved, I later enlisted in the Marines and never saw Mark again. I had heard that he was in a real bad car accident while I was in the military but no one seemed to know where he had moved to. Mark made my childhood one w/ a lot of good memories shared w/ him, my brother and our mutual friends. I hope he’s in a better place and at eternal rest.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Mark was one of my best friends growing up in North Albany. We both lived on North Pearl Street and we would be at each other’s house all the time trading baseball cards and playing baseball and basketball. Unfortunately we lost touch over the years only seeing each other occassionally at a bar or something. He was a great friend to me and my brother Ray and we were actually talking about Mark a few weeks back. Hopefully he died in peace.

Dear Family of Mark Ryan,
I am Mark’s ex-wife. He leaves behind a living legacy of a daughter, Kelly (28), and grandsons Trevor (5) and Tatum (3) with a new granddaughter on the way in May. Kelly is happily married to Tom and has Mark’s eyes. Barbara and Robert were lovely people and Mark loved them so much. Love is something that never dies so I pray that love will live on in this Ryan family for many generations to come. Mark had many blessings on this earth that he never knew about. and that saddens me very much. I hope he is now at peace in the arms of an all knowing and loving God and reunited with his wonderful parents. Perhaps we can all meet one day but until then know that Mark’s life was not lived without purpose. He left behind a very beautiful family. My God never makes mistakes and loves us all unconditionally. Be comforted knowing that Mark and his parent’s are in a far better place than us. My Bible tells me “To be absent from the body Is to be present with the Lord” Oh how we should all live with this hope and faith. God’s blessings and comfort be bestowed upon each of you at this time of sorrow.
